She didn't know what flowers she wanted...

...And that's totally fine.

I had a bride tell me this today.
“I know I want you to do the flowers… I just have no idea what flowers I actually want.”

Honestly? That’s my favourite kind of conversation.
She’d already booked her venue. She knew the date. She knew how she wanted the day to feel. What she didn’t know was whether she wanted garden roses, anthuriums or hydrangeas. But you know what? She didn’t need to.

One of the biggest misconceptions about wedding flowers is that you need to have it all figured out before you talk to a florist.

You really don’t, and actually I’d rather you didn’t. Not, because I want to take over and run everything, but because there might be a better outcome if we work things through.

The first thing I want to know isn’t your favourite flower. It’s where you’re getting married, because your venue already tells me so much.

Are we in the city or the country? A winery or an industrial space? How much natural light is there? Is it modern or traditional? Will guests walk into one large space, or move between different areas? Are you having a cocktail hour inside or on the lawn?

Does the room already have plenty of character, or are the flowers going to create it?
From there, we start talking about the feeling.

Relaxed. Modern. Colourful. Quiet. Elegant. Fun.

Those conversations are far more valuable than scrolling Pinterest trying to work out whether you like larkspur or delphiniums best (majority of people don’t know the difference).

It's my job to help you figure it all out

Flowers are seasonal. They change from month to month.

Some varieties survive an unexpected Summer cyclone – others don’t. Some flowers just can’t be guaranteed.

That’s why I never build a design around one specific flower.

I build it around the space, the season and the people it’s for.

The flowers come afterwards.

By the end of our chat today, we still hadn’t chosen a single flower. And that was completely okay.

We’d talked about the venue, the atmosphere, the colours already in the room and the experience she wanted her guests to have.

That was enough.

If you’re planning your wedding and feeling like you should already know exactly what you want, consider this your permission not to.

That’s my job. Yours is simply to tell me about your day.

The rest, we’ll figure out together.
